Rules

General Server Rules

  • No forms of racism, sexism, or derogatory comments, either in game or out of game, will be tolerated. This includes but is not limited to: unwanted sexual talk, racial slurs, homophobic slurs, and other derogatory slurs or comments. The punishment for these is a permanent ban with no appeal. This includes soft a’s etc. for those of you who will ask.

  • You should remain in character at all times. If breaking character is required, we encourage you to take the conversation into Discord or at the very least, away from the general public. Before any reporting happens, we ask that you play the scenario out.

  • We encourage our veteran roleplayers to assist any new roleplayers we have to the server. This means you don't report their lack of RP immediately, but instead help them in how they can do the scenario better, after the scenario plays out. Some of our best RP comes from people who not long ago had no idea what they were doing. (i.e.. RP terms like city instead of server, local instead of NPC, muscle instead of key, etc.)

  • Out-of-character (OOC) chat is NOT a chatroom. Questions that can be answered in RP need to be asked in RP. OOC should only be used for small technical issues or when information needs to be conveyed to another person involved in a scenario without breaking character (e.g. Headpop, frozen in place, eyes messed up, can’t hear) Any other messages can be taken to discord (for OOC) or to twitter/in character depending on the context. Abuse of OOC will result in a short temporary ban and community strike.

  • Green zones shall be respected. You are responsible for knowing if you’re in a green zone or not. Our green zones are explained in detail in the “Green Zone Rules” section of this rule book, so if you commit a crime in this zone, its punishable to the fullest possible extent and can result in a temporary or permanent ban depending on the severity of the offense.

  • No crime is allowed to begin during the server restart window. This is 15 minutes before and 15 minutes after a restart.

  • Report any character using hacks/cheats/mod menus using “/report” Include their ID as well as what you have witnessed them doing. For more details on how to properly do this including how to find a person’s ID check the “Reporting a Player” section of the rule book.

  • Give a player time to respond to threats and engage your RP. Allow them an opportunity to have the experience with you. If you do not allow the person time or the ability to respond to an RP this will be considered power gaming and will result in a community strike and possible ban depending on severity.

  • A microphone and the ability to speak English is required to play on our server. If at any point in time you are unable to speak or hear then you need to immediately begin RP using “/me” until you are able to fix your voice chat or mic/headphones. If your character's RP involves not speaking, you must be able to hear others and use /me and emotes to communicate.

  • Should a player not respond to verbal commands, you should try to type your command to them. After the scenario plays out, suggest they check their voice box or ears. You are able to type to a person by using “/me” .

  • Impersonating a government official (EMS, Police, Judges) to gain power over another player is strictly forbidden. You may dress as an officer for a proper roleplay reason, as long as it is clear you are not a real police officer - and it is not used to take advantage over other players. This is punishable by both in-game fines and server suspension/bans depending on the severity.

  • You are not allowed to use government official radio frequencies unless you are on duty as a government official (i.e. Police and EMS). This is punishable by both in-game fines and server suspension/bans depending on severity.

  • Random deathmatch (RDM), vehicle deathmatch (VDM), and Fail RP is absolutely not allowed. There must be RP and interaction behind your actions. These are taken seriously and any reports of such behavior will result in community strikes, suspensions, or permanent bans depending on the severity.

    • ANYTIME ANYONE IS KILLED WITHOUT ANY VERBAL INTERACTION OR PREVIOUS INCIDENT WHERE THEY KNOW RETALIATION IS COMING WILL BE CONSIDERED RDM.

  • You are not allowed to transfer money from one of your characters to another of your characters. If you feel that you need to move money from one of your characters to another you must have admin approval and assistance. Community Managers will make the final judgment on a case by case basis.

  • Please ensure that any RP you do is correct for the situation and is a good experience for all players. Do not RP in such a way that it doesn't give the other party a chance to join in, or griefs them in such a way they no longer want to play. Keep it fun for all. Treat others how you would want to be treated.

Character Creation

  • No offensive names, your character will be renamed via a name generator or deleted. Please use realistic names. If you choose to use a fictional name, it may not be an offensive name. This is a roleplay server.
Offensive or slur-based names will lead to a permanent ban with no appeal.

  • Players are prohibited from roleplaying as real individuals. It is mandatory to provide an original name for your character.

  • Your character needs to be created with thought, time, and care. This includes making sure your outfits match your character’s background, ensuring your clothing does not clip through other clothing and that your arms do not clip through your shirt. (For example, t-shirt 15 is invisible for male characters, t-shirt 14 for females.) You can not use the default GTA pedestrians for your character unless directly approved by a Community Manager and only if the default pedestrian is in-line with your character story.

Hacking & Exploiting

  • No third-party applications are allowed unless specified by an admin. This includes crosshairs, mod menus, and anything else that the general population would not have access to or be using.

  • Using any bugs or exploits for your advantage or doing anything that will break immersion/RP is strictly prohibited. This includes but not limited to:

    • Duplicated items.

    • Animation canceling.

    • Clipping through debris/walls/doors.

    • Modifying text in /me and /OOC.

    • Spamming crouch or movement to avoid fall damage and being tased.

  • Any bug related to a FiveM mod must be reported as soon as found. Failure to do so could lead to a server ban.

  • If you hear about a bug or exploit from another player, it’s your responsibility to report both the bug and the player.

  • Any breaking of these rules can lead to severe punishment. Based on the severity, these punishments can extend to a permanent unappealable ban. Knowingly using any third party software, exploit or bug to your advantage will result in a ban on a one (1) strike rule.

Value Your Life

  • Fear RP is used situationally and not a defined setting. Just because you pull a gun on someone before they do, does not mean they’re suddenly incapable of pulling their gun out.

    • If someone approaches you from behind at gunpoint, Fear RP takes place and you may not pull out your gun.

    • If at any point during the scenario your hands are up, you may not pull out your gun.

    • Should the scenario present an opportunity for you to run, you may.  However, if the gun is pointed at you, and their attention is directed at you, you may not run.

    • Pretend that you are your character, if you were in that situation with your skills/story would you do what you are thinking about doing?

  • You may not talk or use the phone when you are unconscious. This is defined as you have bled out or were ‘double tapped’ and no longer have a bleed out timer. Generally it will say Press ‘E’ to respawn.

    • Being downed does not mean you’re unconscious. You may speak if downed due to a non life threatening injury (common sense rules, If it's something that would knock you out in life, treat it as such in-game.)

      • However, should your bleed out time expire, and you’re given the option to respawn, you are now unconscious regardless of how it happened and can no longer talk or use your phone.

  • As EMS arrives on scene, you should talk with them and roleplay this scene out as you would speaking with the ambulance crew in real life after an accident/incident. You should communicate with them via “/me” commands if you are considered unconscious to provide a proper RP scenario. Otherwise, talk normally with them and RP, if you have a serious injury play into it. Again, use common sense, if you are laying in the middle of a road after being hit by a car and run over you wouldn’t be perfectly calm and speaking normally.

  • Death and memory are an important part of roleplay mechanics. Be mindful that your character does not know they are immortal, and death should be taken with extreme caution, therefore you should not do things that would risk your character’s life willingly at any time.

    • If you get to the screen of having the option to press E to respawn then your character will now lose their memory for the RP directly surrounding the event/events leading up to your death. Generally this is taken as the last 15 minutes leading up to your death if you can’t find a point/event that makes sense.

    • Permanent death and amnesia is only an option you as a player can make for your character. (i.e. someone can not hit you and say “you don't remember this”)

  • Retaliation RP - If you bleed out and lose your memory, you must wait 20 minutes before retaliating against the exact person that killed you. This means friends/gang, if they saw the event’s unfold/are aware of the events/person who committed the act in roleplay, are free to retaliate against you/for you but the exact person who killed or was killed cannot order or be involved with that RP situation until 20 minutes is up.

  • Actively being violent, including but not limited to: shooting, stabbing, tackle-spamming, and punching, for no RP reason will be considered no value of life. Meaning that just because you are “bored” does not mean that you can break character and be violent with your friends because you’re “messing around”. It is always possible that you are affecting another person’s roleplay. (i.e. Police and EMS, which then affects everyone else).

Metagaming & Powergaming

  • Discord does not exist in the universe your character does. Therefore, you should not use information you obtained from other players on Discord. (i.e. Hey, I heard on Discord you can…)

  • 8Bit RP welcomes and supports content creators and streamers, providing a friendly environment for their creative endeavors. Platforms like Twitch and other streaming services offer players an additional avenue to showcase their character's stories to a wider audience.

    • Streamers are permitted to feature another creator's stream within the city, as long as they do not exploit this information for personal in-game advantages. This rule exists to foster mutual support and enable 8Bit content creators to enhance their own content. However, streamers must ensure that they engage in such activities when they are not involved in a scene or in the presence of other players.

    • All players interacting with streamers will need to adhere to Twitch's Terms of Service at all times - https://www.twitch.tv/p/en/legal/terms-of-service/.

  • You must give an opportunity for all parties involved in your RP to have a voice. Being the sole talking point and talking over others is prohibited. The only exception to this rule is If it is in character and is accepted as part of the roleplay from all sides. Excessive reports of this can result in a community strike or ban.

  • We understand you may be playing with friends, we ask that you keep your discord muted while playing together and use in-game voice.

    • To maintain fair and immersive roleplay, please ensure that if you are not muted in Discord, you do not use information overheard to gain an unfair advantage in the game. It is important to have Discord muted to prevent unintentional knowledge affecting your RP decisions.

(i.e. if you were across town and heard your buddy saying something to someone)
Again, you should have it muted.

  • Animation protection is when the game prohibits you from performing certain actions simultaneously that would be possible in real life, or has slowed down to an unrealistic speed for the moment. This rule is in place to protect you from certain harmful RP situations. (i.e. A police officer can not rush you or shoot you when they see you’re in the animation of grabbing money and a civilian can not do something similar to a cop or other civilian)

  • Apartment rooms are to be treated as a private residence. We as a city are working around game mechanics and we must do our best to understand that we all don't share the same apartment. Anything seen or heard inside of the apartment room is to be treated as OOC and can not be used in RP. Violations should be reported in a ticket and will be treated as an exploit of game mechanics.

Combat Logging

  • You are not to leave the game or disconnect in the middle of any RP that your character is directly involved in. If you are concerned that you may be shot, you are not to log off to avoid that. You must play out the RP. If you are worried the player is breaking the rules, simply record the situation, do not break character.  Finish out the RP and report the incident and an admin will rectify and reimburse if needed.

    • If there is an emergency or IRL situation that takes priority, open a ticket in Discord and let us know that information as soon as possible. We can coordinate between the two parties on how to continue (or end) the scenario.

  • After committing any major crime, you must remain online for twenty (20) minutes to allow authorities an opportunity to react. If you have completely gotten away from the police in this time frame, please wait the time out if you plan to change to another character. Please plan accordingly before starting any major crime.

  • If you are shot or arrested and you log out of the server, you will be considered combat logging or avoiding punishment. You can not die in prison and then respawn or log out in prison and fly into a different location to avoid prison time. This will be considered combat logging. If you do so, you will receive community strikes, suspensions, or permanent bans depending on the severity.

  • Respawning in the middle of an RP scenario is absolutely prohibited. If you feel that rules were broken in the scenario, record the situation, do not break character. Finish out the RP and report the incident. An admin will rectify and reimburse afterwards if needed.

Violent RP

  • Violent RP is limited to 6 group members at a time. At no point in time will a gang interaction exceed 6 members per side. There are only a few exceptions to this rule, clarified below.

    • If attacking another gang’s territory then the attacking gang is limited to 6 members but any rostered members of the defending territory that are being attacked are allowed to participate.

      • If there are non-gang members present, they are allowed to defend themselves until they can freely leave the area. They are not allowed to attack/move offensively against the attacking group outside of the territory unless defending themselves while leaving the area.

    • If the defending gang is not doing illegal activity in the city and they are approached by another gang, it is on the attacking gang to limit themselves to 6 attackers regardless of the number of defenders (this will function similarly to attacking the gang at the compound). The defending gang will not be forced to This rule only applies to criminal activity.

    • Only a single group of 6 is allowed to be doing an illegal activity together at a time. If you want to split up and do multiple illegal activities at once the total number of people doing the illegal activity can not exceed 6 per group. These groups may not assist each other in these illegal activities.

      • If you have multiple groups and are in an active conflict with another gang, the group limit of 6 applies to whichever of your group attacks/engages with the other gang. No one will be allowed to outside of this group unless one of the defense or gang war rules apply.

    • Multiple gangs can not “team up” to attack another gang with more than 6. If multiple gangs are working together, the interaction will still be limited to 6 members split between the 2 or more gangs.

    • Multiple gangs can not “team up” against an individual or unaffiliated player.

  • In the event of a gang war being declared, the limits to numbers and terms of the war can be agreed upon by both sides outside of the normal gang rules.

    • If a gang is currently in an active war, only rostered gang members are allowed at the compound.

    • Gangs must set number limits on engagements, timeframe or goal for the war to end, and a cooldown for reengaging once the war is complete.

      • Other terms can be agreed upon that are outside of the normal rules, and a list of terms must be provided by both sides to the admin team prior to engagement.

      • All rosters must be up to date prior to the war declaration being agreed upon, and no new rostered members are to be included in the war until complete unless agreed upon by both sides.

      • If both sides are unable to come to specific terms, the default gang and violent crime rules will apply until terms are set.

      • If terms for the war are not satisfied within 7 days, the war declaration will end. The winner will be determined by a final 6 versus 6 skirmish, with terms and details to be set by city management.

  • Rostered members of whitelisted gangs are limited to 15 players. At no point in time will a gang exceed this limit.

    • Players may only have one character in one gang in the city. They may leave and join another gang or create a new character that joins a gang, but can only have one active gang member at a time.

    • If you are not a whitelisted gang, your group is limited to 6 players active in a scenario following the normal limits.

  • Members of whitelisted gangs are held to a higher standard of RP because of the potential power that they hold in the city. Being a member of a whitelisted gang is similar to being a business owner.

    • You must adhere to stricter rules because a gang can affect the balance of the server and entire economy. To this end, frequent communication with admins will be expected and required.

    • Specific channels of communication in Discord will be kept open to allow for gangs to communicate with admins and so clear intention can be stated.

  • Gangs are expected to help to police themselves. Any gang member(s) breaking rules will be punished accordingly and depending on the severity of the offense(s) the gang as a whole will be punished. This can include up to server bans of the entire gang or forced disassembly of the gang.

  • Gang leaders are required to keep an updated roster of all members in the communication channel with admins.

  • Gangs will be required to state in their communication channel with admins what gangs or groups they are currently at war with or have a truce/agreement with. This must remain updated at all times.

  • If you as a gang member are going to be a business owner, when doing crime you must make an effort to hide your identity. Businesses owned by the gang must remain legal and above board. If a gang chooses to perform illegal activity out of their business, they will run the risk of being raided and closed down in RP by police if illegal activity is found.

  • Gangs are expected to maintain control of an area that will be their “home turf”. Gangs may only have a single location as their headquarters and base of operations.

  • Gangs are not allowed to control more than 1 drug at a time. A gang may control multiple locations that are used for the same drug but may only control that single drug. I.e. weed gathering and processing.

Crime & Illegal Misconduct

General Rules

  • Criminals may only make one demand per hostage they have. (i.e. a vehicle filled with gas, no spike strips, free passage).

    • All demands should be made within reason in what the officers can do (i.e. They can’t give you a helicopter filled with RPGs. Nor is an officer allowed to give more money than what the heist gives).

  • Officers may make offers in exchange for hostages (i.e. more time).

  • Players are limited to one car on the scene for getaway, unless the heist limit allow for a player limit that would require 2 vehicles.

    • i.e. Pacific Vault has a heist limit of 6 players and would allow having two vehicles on scene for the initial getaway.

  • To maintain fairness, players are not allowed to seek refuge in apartments, houses, gang compounds, or green zones, regardless of ownership, until they have successfully evaded any active police pursuit or chase.

  • All hostile RP has a limit of 6 players (see Gang vs. Gang exceptions). All hostile RP that stems from another crime or heist with players limits must follow those limits, for example: If you rob a store and that leads to a shootout, only the 3 people from the store may be involved in that interaction.

  • A group or individual may not breach or join in another group’s active heist scenario involving the police. This creates a hostile scenario that now involves the police being outnumbered and heist limits being ignored.

    • If the group or individual is intercepting or taking over a heist before the police get there, they must follow ALL heist rules and limits. This is punishable by a community strike and/or ban depending on severity.

  • A group or individual may not camp a heist unless they are taking over the heist before police get there or are continuing a previous RP scenario.

Store Robbery

  • Robbing stores can be done without a hostage.

  • Robbing shops and stores requires at least two (2) officers online and on-duty.

  • Robbing stores (i.e. Gas Stations, Convenience Stores, etc.) with one (1) person is allowed, to a maximum of three (3). Should you have more than two (2), one of them can be a getaway driver/lookout.

House Robbery

  • Robbing houses can be done without a hostage.

  • Robbing houses requires at least three (3) officers online and on-duty.

  • Robbing houses with one (1) person is allowed, to a maximum of three (3). Should you have more than two (2), one of them can be a getaway driver/lookout.

Car Boosting / VIN Scratching

  • Car boosting / VIN scratching requires at least four (4) officers online and on-duty.

  • Car boosting involves getting away from the police and can sometimes require additional people to assist the driver. This activity can be started with a minimum of one (1) person, to a maximum of four (4).

  • Anyone involved in the group must be present at the beginning of the heist/police chase. You are not allowed to set up roadblocks or have outside parties purposefully interfere / coordinate against the police unless they are part of the initial group of up to 4 present when the activity/chase began.

  • This is not to limit your roleplay, but to allow balancing the amount of activity in the city versus police presence. If this changes in the future, we will revisit and adjust this rule.

Jewelry Store Robbery

  • Robbing jewelry stores can be done without a hostage.

  • Robbing jewelry stores requires at least four (4) officers online and on-duty.

  • Robbing jewelry stores requires a minimum of two (2) people and a maximum of four (4). With 2 people, the extra person can not be a getaway driver and must enter the store with you. (i.e. jewelry is heavy and would take too long for one person). Should you have more than two (2), one of them can be a getaway driver.

Bank Robbery - Fleeca and Paleto

  • A bank robbery requires you to take a hostage. You may choose to have more than one hostage but it must be properly roleplayed.

  • Robbing banks requires at least four (4) officers online and on-duty.

  • Robbing banks requires at least (2) people*, to a maximum of four (4). Should you start a bank heist with only one (2) people, you are required to be able to roleplay the scenario accordingly. (i.e. police may breach if hostages are not in danger, etc.)

Bank Robbery - Pacific Vault

  • Pacific Vault requires at least six (6) officers online and on-duty.

  • Pacific Vault requires at least two (2) hostages.

  • Pacific Vault allows for up to six (6) total criminals with a minimum of two (2).

Bobcat Security Heist

  • Bobcat Security requires at least six (6) officers online and on-duty.

  • Bobcat Security requires at least two (2) hostages.

  • Bobcat Security allows for up to four (4) total criminals with a minimum of two (2).

Kidnapping/Taking Hostage

  • Ransom may be held for the player to be released, however the ransom must be within a reasonable payable amount, and does not require money. Should it be a tangible item, the item must be within reason.

  • You may only kidnap and/or hostage the same person one time per tsunami (server restart). Should you kidnap that person twice, you are to let them go immediately.

  • Taking someone hostage for a crime must make sense for the crime as well as follow all other rules surrounding that crime.

  • If you kidnap a Police Officer for ransom, only another officer or government official may pay that ransom.

  • The ‘Taking Police As a Hostage / Looting Police Officers’ status specifically refers to kidnapping and taking an officer hostage in exchange for demands,, attempting to rob an officer that is alive, handcuffing officers to rob them, or holding officers up with a weapon in exchange for items or a favor.

    • In roleplay there are times where you are put in a situation where rules force you into a worse scenario. For example, feeling forced to completely give up or shoot at police when confronted because of the limited options.

    • When hostage taking is not allowed on the scoreboard — If you are able to communicate with the officers and they choose to comply in exchange for an officers life, you may hold the officer at gunpoint in order to leave the area safely.

      • You will not kidnap or take them with you unless the requirement for taking an officer hostage is met. If the officers choose not to comply, you should continue your RP scenario with that in mind.

Mugging

  • Mugging is allowed but frowned upon even in proper RP for your character. Often mugging turns into griefing for the other party involved and this should be taken into account.

  • Knowingly mugging the same citizen repeatedly in the same tsunami (server restart) is a bannable offense.

  • Mugging may only occur if there is at least one (1) officer online.

  • Mugging a cop may only occur if there are enough cops online for a cop to be looted.

  • Excessive mugging may result in a server ban and community strikes.

Cop Baiting

  • The officer will determine if the reason for the bait was due to a roleplay scenario (You’re the sober one driving to get your buddies by, or maybe you are luring an officer away for where a crime will take place).

  • The officer will determine the punishment based on the severity of the bait. This could be escalated to admins for server related punishments.

  • Punishments may include increased fines depending on the crime committed, a ban may be issued if the cop baiting was done for non-roleplay reasons (length of the ban depending on severity of the situation).

  • Cop baiting for non-roleplay reasons is not allowed on this server.

Jailbreak

  • Jailbreaking is allowed but only within reason. At no time are you allowed to leave the prison using glitches such as phasing through walls or being carried/escorted through walls. A jailbreak must be played out and give officers an opportunity to respond. Criminals performing a jailbreak must use /911 or /911a to notify police. Failure to notify police will be considered powergaming and denying others RP for a “win”.

Green Zone Rules

Common Areas and Legal Processing/Gathering

  • Common areas and legal gathering/processing areas are soft green zones. This includes:

    • Pillbox Hospital

    • Alta Street Apartments

    • PDM Dealership

    • Mining Gathering

    • Mining Processing

    • Recycling Center

    • Pawn Shop

    • Mechanic Shops

    • Player-owned Businesses

  • These are areas that all citizens must go to. Whether they are starting their lives in our city at Alta St Apartments, trying to recover from a crazy local at Pillbox, buying their dream car at PDM, or living out their dream job of being a miner or farmer at a legal gathering zone.

  • We allow ROLEPLAY SCENARIOS to play out in these areas to allow citizens the ability to continue their RP without breaking immersion. This does not mean that you can abuse this rule to force other people into your roleplay.

    • All scenarios STARTED in these areas must engage in proper verbal RP before violence occurs.

  • Random Crime and Violence are NOT ALLOWED to START inside of these areas. This includes but is not limited to:

    • Attacking or killing others without prior RP engagement.

      • If a scenario is starting to develop while inside of one of these locations, take the fight or argument outside to continue your RP.

    • Robbing or mugging of individuals without prior RP engagement.

  • Continuation of RP is ALLOWED in these areas. This includes but is not limited to:

    • Police officers responding to a call or disturbance.

    • Retaliation or continuation of a fight between the INVOLVED PARTIES ONLY.

    • Kidnapping of a person involved in your continued RP or to be used for hostage purposes.

      • If the person is involved in your continued RP (i.e. gang war, police interaction, etc.)

      • If a person is not involved in continued RP and is for hostage purposes only. This person can not be robbed or killed unless they defend themselves or retaliate. They are for hostage purposes ONLY for illegal jobs/heists.

  • Player-owned businesses, mechanic shops, legal processing, legal gathering, and legal selling zones can be used to kidnap a hostage for use in an illegal heist. This person can not be robbed, but can be killed if not valuing their life. They are for hostage purposes only.

    • You are allowed to defend yourself at any time in a green zone, if you are being threatened. This must be kept within RP, and follow rules for Valuing Your life and Fear RP. You would not defend yourself alone with 4 people trying to kidnap you.

  • Pillbox is protected by the state. EMS and PD have full jurisdiction to protect Pillbox with non-lethal force if they feel threatened. If the threat continues, first-responders have the right to use lethal force and/or have you arrested.

Crafting Benches and Drug Collection/Processing

  • Crime RP and violence is allowed as long as the following criteria is met:

    • You engage with people doing the collection and processing before any violence occurs. If you shoot/stab/hit/cuff before any verbal RP takes place, this is considered RDM. You must engage in RP that doesn’t involve bodily harm first.

    • You may not engage people during the time they’re locked in the animation for crafting, gathering, or processing. However, if you notice they’re just spamming E over and over, you may then engage. Even if you do this, the above rule still applies and verbal RP is required before any violent actions take place.

    • You may not camp the crafting, collection, or processing zones of any drug. If you are ‘controlling’ a location, you must take over and be using the entire location, not just waiting for people to rob them.

      • It becomes a problem if the same group is just continuously robbing in these areas over and over. We will protect the general population of the server, over a small group of “muggers”.

  • At the end of the day, these areas are high crime areas.  It is your responsibility to ensure that you’re not going there just to ‘farm’.  We do not recommend going to these areas alone, to always have a lookout.

    • If you chose to go to these areas alone, you must RP out yourself as a look out (gather once, look around for a second, gather again).  You do not get the power to immediately report these players, as it’s just as much your fault for not roleplaying out the fact that it would take a whole crew to gather drugs or craft illegal materials.

  • To be totally clear, you CAN be kidnapped, killed, and robbed in a drug collection, drug processing, or illegal crafting area. These rules are ONLY there to protect you during animation.

Driving & Vehicle Etiquette

  • Speed limits in Residential area are set to 35 mph

    • Punishable by fine if caught.

    • Excessive violations could result in mandatory driving class as well as extensive fines.

    • Three violations will result in a suspended license and community service.

  • Speed limits in City Limits are set to 45 mph

    • Punishable by fine if caught.

    • Excessive violations could result in mandatory driving class.as well as extensive fines

    • Three violations will result in a suspended license and community service.

  • Speed limits on the highways inside City Limits are set to 65 mph

    • Punishable by fine if caught.

    • Excessive violations could result in mandatory driving class.as well as extensive fines

    • Three violations will result in a suspended license and community service.

  • Speed limits on the highways outside City Limits are set to 80 mph

    • Punishable by fine if caught.

    • Excessive violations could result in mandatory driving class.as well as extensive fines

    • Three violations will result in a suspended license and community service.

  • Try to drive on this server as close as you would drive in real life. If driving off road in a non off road vehicle, please try to restrict speed limit accordingly. You wouldn't go 100 on sand in a sedan, and you wouldn’t take your sports car off-roading/up a mountain.

  • In the event where your RP requires you to run from the police, the above rule may be bent as long as it makes sense to the role play (i.e. stunt jumps, off road speeding within certain limitations). Again your motorcycle isn’t going to go straight up a mountain, nor would your little 4 door grandma car.

  • Vehicle Deathmatch “VDM” is defined as purposely killing players without any reason or at random without any sort of RP. Saying that your RP is a “road rage” does not qualify.

    • VDM is bannable on the first offense.

    • Once a VDM happens, an admin will hear the case and from there determine if the ban is temporary or permanent.

Frequently Asked Questions

Reporting a Player

  • If an admin's attention is urgently needed because of a serious rule violation please use the command /report in the city. An admin is able to respond to these reports to give you directions for next steps or to get more information about the situation.

    • In most cases you will be asked to open a ticket in Discord and to provide any evidence or additional information that you may have.

    • To find a person’s ID - press your Home button. This will show a number over a person's head that can be used to identify them by city admins

Scheduled Restarts

  • Server restart occurs once every 8 hours at 10 AM EST, 6 PM EST, and 2 AM EST.

  • Server restart can be delayed or extended at admin discretion to allow for the completion of a large or extended RP scene or to allow for the completion of updates.

 Roleplaying Tips

  • If you notice a player’s microphone isn’t working, you should suggest they “check their voicebox” instead of saying “Hey your mic is messed up”

  • When wanting to know when the next server restart is, you should ask “when is the tsunami?”

  • Any time you’re referring to the NPCs, it's important that you call them “locals” instead of “NPC”

  • If you need to know about a certain keybind, simply ask “sorry which muscle was that?”

  • If you are ever stuck in a situation with your roleplay, and are unsure on what to do next, just try your best to not break character and say what needs to be said to move the conversation along. After the scenario, ask that player to join you in Discord and talk with them on what you could have done better to make the RP more enjoyable.

We hope you have fun playing at 8Bit RP and can’t wait to see you in-game!
